Carbonneau's big mistake

What we witnessed in the second round elimination of the Montreal Canadiens was not a goaltending meltdown. Rather, it was a coaching meltdown.

Now, I'm not trying to take anything away from Guy Carbonneau. He is a fantastic coach and being named a finalist for the Jack Adams Award is very deserving. But what he did to Carey Price was like kicking a man when he is down.

Price's confidence was obviously shaky when he was pulled in Game 3, but Carbonneau's comment afterwards shattered what little confidence Price had left.

The reality is, Price is 20 years old and he can't be expected to work the same magic he did last year with Hamilton. Bob Gainey's biggest concern with the team this off-season should be either patching up the relationship between coach and goalie or finding a new coach altogether.
