SCOTT & ALICIA.............THE POINT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE WITH CARTER WAS IT'S REALLY KIND OF OUT OF PAUL'S HANDS..IF KEVIN LOWE DECIDES TO MAKE A VANEK-LIKE OFFER AT 8 OR 9 MIL. A YEAR, THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM EVEN WITH THE GUYS THAT ARE NOT BEING RE-SIGNED...I'M ENJOYING THIS RUN, LET'S SEE WHO WE HAVE NEXT BE IT THE PENS OR RANGERS...

Why are you even reading this if you hate the Flyers? And stop acting like all the Flyers do is cheap shot because it's not true and they get cheap shots thrown at them too so get over it. They have skill and if they didn't they wouldn't be 1 game away from the Eastern Conference Finals.

when paul played he was one of the most feared players, not just a fighter but he light the lamp.he has renewed the flyer history of hard nosed in your face hockey.an exellent job rebuilding the club.a no-brainer as g.m. of the year.to all the teams whining about the dirty flyers your team is probably out of the playoffs due to soft players toughin' up!!!!!!!!!!

I hate the Flyers. I hope Crosby throws himself onto the ice crying every time one of Philly's players so much as touch him. As much as I hate Crosby's whining, diving, diva act, I hate Philly's cheap head shot from behind style more.

Don't worry he will get both Carter and Umberger back. Prospal and Modry will most likely go and other people too. He knows who his star players are and who his top priorities are and Umberger and Carter are just that. He will do everything he can do to sign both of them. And I can't see a reason why either of them 2 wouldn't want to stay here. But that is the least of the Flyers worries right now. It is the playoffs now and that is all that matters. The Flyers are making a run and are 1 game away from the eastern conference finals so don't stress yourself worrying about Carter and Umberger right now. But besides that he really did an amazing job by getting Briere Hartnell Smith Timonen Upshall Prospal Lupul and even more. Not many teams can finish so bad one season to being just a win away from the eastern conference finals the next year so give him credit. This team just continues to amaze me.

Where Carter will go and why he won't be a Flyer is a topic that the media seems obsessed with, but I am skeptical. I can't see the Flyers letting either RJ or Jeff go. I agree with Scott about which Flyers will be gone next year and, painfully enough, we don't even know if and when Gagne will be back. I hate to say it, but the Flyers have been down this road before and when your PCS has left you side-lined for as long as Gagne's has, it's hard to not remember Keith Primeau and Eric Lindros. When Clarkie stepped down (or back?) I was skeptical about Homer and believed that Clarke was probably still pulling the strings. I think now, though, that Homer had a long and productive apprenticeship and was thoroughly groomed for the position that he has now distinguished himself in.

Hey Bob, I wouldn't worry about loosing either of those guys. Holmgren will make them an offer before anyone else can and get them wrapped up. The guys most likely to be moving on are Smith, Dowd, Modry & Prospal (they need room to resign Umberger, Carter, Jones, Thorosen and for Gagne's contract to come back on the books). As a result look for Ryan Potulny or Steve Downey or Thorosen to be the 4th line center next year with Kapanen, probably Downey and Thorosen will share those duties, occasionally Riley Cote will play.

Great article, Homer is a great guy and should win Executive of the Year in the league this year.

GRANTED DONE A WONDERFUL JOB RE=TOOLING,,,BUT AT A COST ...WITH UMBERGER & CARTER BOTH RFA'S...SOMEONE IS GOING TO TENDER THEM A BIG OFFER (CLARKE'S STATRED IT AND NOW IT'S GONNA COME BACK TO BITE US YOU KNOW WHERE!) AND BOTTOM LINE IS...WE CAN'T PAY THEM BOTH, NO ROOM....SO HE'S KINDA PAINTED HIMSELF INTO A CORNER, BOBBY ORR IS JEFF'S AGENT, ONLY CHANCE WE GOT IS IF HE LIKES IT HERE SO MUCH, HE'LL SIGN FOR A LITTLE LESS BEFORE AN OFFER GETS TENDERED..LET'S KEEP FINGERS CROSSED BUT REALISTICALLY EITHER UMBERGER OR CARTER WILL NOT BE A FLYER NEXT YEAR...

“I was coming in to take the boards away and had some good jump. He bobbled the puck at the last second and I don’t think he saw me coming at all. It was a shoulder right in his chest. He’s eight feet tall, so it’s not like you could hit him in the head.”
