Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo a father of a baby girl

VANCOUVER - Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo is a father.

Luongo's wife Gina gave birth to a girl Thursday afternoon in South Florida, the NHL team said Friday. The seven-pound, six-ounce baby has been named Gabriella Anna after Gina's grandmother.

Luongo flew from Denver, where the Canucks played Wednesday night, to Florida to be present for the birth.

He returned to Minnesota so he could join his team for its game against the Wild on Friday night.
