Burke says Ducks would find room to insert Teemu Selanne into lineup

TORONTO - Teemu Selanne is close to making a decision on whether or not to attempt a return to the NHL and the Anaheim Ducks would find room for him if he opts to play, says general manager Brian Burke.

The 37-year-old became a free agent last July 1 after scoring 48 goals for the Ducks and helping them win the Stanley Cup last season.

"He's back skating," Burke said Friday. "He's made comments to teammates that he wants to make a decision in the next little bit.

"I told his agent, 'If he makes any decision before the all-star weekend is over, I'm going to ring his neck.' I told him that, whatever his decision, it's got to wait until after Atlanta. I don't want it to take away from the lustre of the all-star weekend.

"If he wants to come back, we'll find him a sweater."

Burke and Ducks owners Henry and Susan Samueli stopped at the Hockey Hall of Fame to present the hockey shrine with a 2007 championship ring. Anaheim is the first team to do so, and Samueli suggested future champions might consider doing the same.
