Edmonton Oilers activate Matt Greene, put Geoff Sanderson on IR

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers have activated defenceman Matt Greene from injured reserve and assigned him to the AHL's Springfield Falcons on a conditioning assignment.

The Oilers also placed veteran winger Geoff Sanderson on injured reserve with a back injury.

Greene has missed the Oilers' last 34 games after suffering a fractured left fibula and ligament damage in his left ankle in an Oct. 30 game versus Detroit. He has one assist and 11 penalty minutes in 13 games this season.

Sanderson has missed 12 of the last 13 games.
