The Hockey News Player of the Week for the period of Dec. 31 to Jan. 6 is Penguins goaltender Ty Conklin.
Conklin recorded a 35-save shutout over the Florida Panthers Jan. 5 and led the Penguins to a 3-0 record over the week with a .968 save percentage.
Since being called up from the American League's Wilkes-Barre Dec. 7, Conklin has posted a 7-0 record with a 1.99 goals-against average and .939 save percentage in place of the injured Marc-Andre Fleury.
Aside from Saturday’s shutout, Conklin also stopped all three shooters he faced in a shootout win against the Sabres in the Winter Classic.
