The Hockey News player of the week for Dec. 2 – Dec. 9 is Colorado Avalanche winger Milan Hejduk.
The Czech native had been overshadowed by sophomore phenom Paul Stastny’s breakout year, but Hejduk exploded for a hat trick and six points in a 9-5 win over St. Louis on December 9.
The sniper had two goals and an assist—a point in each game—in the three preceding games, giving him a cool nine points on the week.
Hejduk is one of two remaining Nordiques draft picks in the Avs system, alongside Joe Sakic, and is in his ninth year in the Mile High City.

“I think when you’re at home the first two games, sometimes you get a little bit too comfortable at home. Then you come on the road, maybe it’s like a rude awakening…We’ve had three series to figure that out, learn it. We definitely want to be better (Monday), especially in the first game on the road.”
- Chicago's Patrick Kane. The Blackhawks are 0-3 in Game 3s this playoff.
