Newbury's four points help Marlies earn 5-2 win over Americans

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Kris Newbury scored two goals and two assists to lead the Toronto Marlies past the Rochester American in the AHL Friday night.

With the Marlies leading 2-1, Newbury scored his eighth of the year at 9:26 of the second period. His second goal came on the power play at 9:58 in the third to finish of the scoring.

Toronto's David Ling had three assists on the night, one coming on Newbury's first goal, and Jiri Tlusty scored a goal and an assist. Staffan Kronwall and Simon Gamache also scored for Toronto (15-4-0-3), who went 3-for-5 on the power play.

Anthony Stewart and Marek Zagrapan countered for Rochester, who dropped to 10-12-1-2.

Scott Clemmensen made 26 saves for the win, while Rochester's David Shantz stopped 16 of 21 shots.
