The 2013 draft eligible defenseman is known for his points on the ice and also got attention for a good deed off the ice.
Team Canada’s under-18 squad featured an excellent array of talent and many eyeballs were focused on 2012 draft prospects such as Matt Dumba, Brendan Gaunce and Matt Murray.

The Lac St-Louis Lions winger has a tremendous shot that is already turning heads.
There are many numbers to cite when the topic of Anthony De Luca comes up. First and foremost, there's the 48 goals and 80 points in 43 games he put up in the Quebec midget league this year for the Lac St-Louis Lions, the highest total on the circuit.

Dougie Hamilton

The Bruins first-rounder took a bronze away from the WJC, but his eyes are now fixed on the Memorial Cup.
Not a lot can slow down Dougie Hamilton at this point. OK, there was that 10-game suspension for a hit to the head on Sudbury’s Michael MacDonald, but on the ice Hamilton has had few peers this season.

Marko Dano

The young Slovakian was part of the WJC team to get experience because he's still a year away from being draft eligible.
Team Slovakia came into the world juniors with very modest expectations – don’t get relegated, don’t play for relegation. Thanks to a win over the Swiss in the round-robin, it did indeed get a spot in the medal round, where it fell in the quarterfinal to Finland.

Nick Bjugstad

by Ryan Kennedy - December 8, 2011 3:36 PM EST

The big American center will be a key cog for his country's team at the WJC and is a big part of Florida's future.
Even going back to last year’s World Junior Championship, the Florida Panthers and GM Dale Tallon envisioned Nick Bjugstad as the big, powerful center they didn’t have.

How much can a player's stock be hurt if he gets injured? It depends on how much homework the team has done.
It goes without saying all draft prospects hope their first years of eligibility are magical campaigns filled with copious amounts of points, long playoff runs and maybe even a roster spot on the world junior team.

After turning down the US national program, Michaelson opted to commit to his favorite childhood team.
If anyone can live up to the phrase “be true to your school,” it’s center A.J. Michaelson. Offered a spot in Team USA’s national team development program while he was a high school sophomore, the Minnesota native turned down the opportunity in order to represent the Apple Valley Eagles to the fullest.

Brett Hargrave

At only 15, winger Brett Hargrave already stands 6-foot-4. But it's not just his size that's impressive. He speed and skill just as large.
College Hockey Inc. held another showcase for potential Canadian NCAA recruits last week, featuring approximately 80 elite teens from Ontario facing off against each other in front of a raft of college coaches.

The 2012 NHL draft is full of talented defensemen and Moose Jaw's latest gem is among them.
If there’s one early emerging trend for the 2012 draft, it’s the wealth of excellent prospects on defense – particularly those from the Western League.

After breaking records set by Crosby and Stamkos, Lazar's first full season in the WHL will be something to watch.
The Western League is rolling out a killer crop of draft-eligible defensemen this year, from Ryan Murray and Matt Dumba to Griffin Reinhart and Morgan Rielly.

Ryan Sproul

by Ryan Kennedy - July 21, 2011 2:15 PM EDT

Things are looking up in big way in Sault Ste. Marie thanks in big part to Red Wings prospect Ryan Sproul.
There’s nothing like a feel-good story in the sports world and for Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds defenseman Ryan Sproul, the 2010-11 season unspooled in a very nice way.

Was the one-game suspension given to Martin Hanzal for his hit from behind long enough?

"It's a dangerous place, but a player can't put himself in that position, either. And I'm not saying it was a good hit, but anybody who has played the game, when you're in that position and a guy is beside you and then turns his back to you, you can't stop."

- Phoenix coach Dave Tippett on the Shane Doan hit from behind on Trevor Lewis.
