Report: Senators reach agreement to send Heatley to Sharks as part of three-way deal

According to a report on ESPN.com, sources have told the outlet the Ottawa Senators have agreed to a trade that would send disgruntled winger Dany Heatley to Sharks as part of a three-way deal also involving the L.A. Kings.

The Sharks would send Patrick Marleau to the Kings, who would then move Alexander Frolov and Jarret Stoll to the Senators.

However, when contact by ESPN, all three of Ottawa GM Bryan Murray, San Jose GM Doug Wilson and L.A. GM Dean Lombardi both denied a deal was complete.

“It's simply not true," Murray told ESPN.com. "I've had conversations with teams today, but still I'm not close to a deal."

Lombardi told ESPN.com via text message: "It is complete bull."

Wilson told ESPN.com via test message: "It is an absolute fabrication."

Was the one-game suspension given to Martin Hanzal for his hit from behind long enough?

"It's a dangerous place, but a player can't put himself in that position, either. And I'm not saying it was a good hit, but anybody who has played the game, when you're in that position and a guy is beside you and then turns his back to you, you can't stop."
