According to a report on RDS.ca, free agent Nikolai Zherdev is set to sign a deal with Salavat Yuleav Ufa of the Kontinental League.
Last week, the New York Rangers opted to walk away from the salary arbitration ruling to Zherdev, making the Russian an unrestricted free agent. Zherdev scored 23 goals and 58 points in 82 games for the Rangers last season.
Originally selected fourth overall by Columbus in the 2003 draft, Zherdev has been a chronic underachiver throughout his career. He has 99 goals and 239 points in 365 career NHL games.
